The brand RAMPF is well known in Japan.
The board materials from RAMPF Tooling are key sellers from Yoshi Naganuma‘s product range. Especially popular are the modeling board MB-0720 and the styling board SB-0470 made from polyurethane and used for design and master models but also for tools, jigs and fixtures. The Managing Director of the RAMPF Group Japan reviews the last five years proudly. His first target, to establish the RAKU-TOOL products in Japan, has been achieved together with managing director Matthias Rampf. Today, the company supported by nine distribution partners, looks after nearly 1000 customers located all over Japan. Amongst these are well-known automotive manufacturers like Honda R&D and Toyota. “Quality, cost effectiveness and the availability of our products world-wide have contributed to our success. Orders which we receive today are dispatched tomorrow”, comments Yoshi Naganuma. “The technical service is another key aspect that our customers appreciate”, concludes Yoshi Naganuma further. Employees Takao Tsutsui, Kazushige Kashiwagi and Akagawa Yasuhiro visit about 80 customers per month to introduce new products and maintain customer relations.
Japanese customers are enthusiastic about technology
Of growing importance in the RAMPF Group Japan product portfolio are the Close Contour Pastes based on epoxy. Since their market introduction the experts from the RAMPF Group have held over 100 live product demonstrations at customers. Three customers have already invested in their own equipment for paste application and many others use the RAMPF Group Japan paste service. Application areas for the Close Contour Pastes are the automotive, marine, wind energy and aerospace industries. “The materials stand for economic modeling and tooling. They are also quick and easy to process. Depending on the application they can already be machined to the final model after 24 hours room temperature cure”, explains Y. Naganuma. The 53 year old has a substantial product know-how as he is also the Product Development Manager for RAMPF Tooling. Over the coming years the chemist plans to expand the product offering steadily. For a short time he has been selling mineral castings for machine frames from EPUCRET which are produced in Tai-cang, China. As a next step it is planned to introduce reactive resin and mixing sys-tems for the automotive industry. Based on the market data Y. Naganuma projects double-digit growth in all areas. Japan is the largest producer of motor vehicles world-wide and in the machine industry the country is also amongst the leading producers.
“We are confident that we will grow further in Japan. As our experience has shown, Japanese customers are very demanding but at the same time have an open mind for new products and technologies. Based on a joint quality understanding we will be able to score further with innovative products“, comments Matthias Rampf, Chief Executive Officer of the RAMPF Group. The 33 year old helped to establish the sis-ter company five years ago.
